And also with you.

WELCOME

CALL TO WORSHIP For the “many-ness” of God’s creative splendor, let us give thanks. Before Jesus’s Humility, and the power of Christ’s commands, let us stand in wonder. For the mystery of relationships— God’s with us and ours with one another, let us seek God’s holy wisdom. Come! Let us worship the triune God.

OPENING PRAYER                            You are One, O God, and you are Three. You are majesty and mystery. Make us ever in your image, we pray. Make us one. Make us “we.” Amen.

SCRIPTURE SONG Let us sing our first scripture reading: Psalm 8 (VU 730)God, Our God, Your Glorious Name.

SCRIPTURE: Genesis 1:1-2:4a The first story of creation.

PRAYER OF PREPARATION                                                           Creator, we pray, as we ponder your word, bless us with your wisdom and goodness
that we may we join your Spirit’s dance,
and be moved to live in the way of your Christ.

REFLECTION “And It Was Very Good”

HYMN VU 291All Things Bright and Beautiful
Refrain:  All things bright and beautiful, all creatures great and small, all things wise and wonderful: in love, God made them all.
1. Each little flower that opens,       each little bird that sings, God made their glowing colours, God made their tiny wings.
Refrain:  All things bright and beautiful, all creatures great and small, all things wise and wonderful: in love, God made them all.
2. The purple headed mountains, the river running by, the sunset and the morning that brightens up the sky;
Refrain:  All things bright and beautiful, all creatures great and small, all things wise and wonderful: in love, God made them all.
3. The cold wind in the winter, the pleasant summer sun, the ripe fruits in the garden: God made them every one.
Refrain:  All things bright and beautiful, all creatures great and small, all things wise and wonderful: in love, God made them all.
4. The rocky mountain splendour, the lone wolf’s haunting call, the great lakes and the prairies, the forest in the fall;
Refrain:  All things bright and beautiful, all creatures great and small, all things wise and wonderful: in love, God made them all.
5. God gave us eyes to see them, and lips that we might tell how great is God our maker, who has made all things well.
Refrain:  All things bright and beautiful, all creatures great and small, all things wise and wonderful: in love, God made them all.

PROFESSION OF FAITH A New Creed                                  (UCC) We are not alone, we live in God’s world.   We believe in God: who has created and is creating, who has come in Jesus, the Word made flesh, to reconcile and make new, who works in us and others by the Spirit.   We trust in God. We are called to be the Church: to celebrate God’s presence, to live with respect in Creation, to love and serve others, to seek justice and resist evil, to proclaim Jesus,    crucified and risen,    our judge and our hope. In life, in death, in life beyond death, God is with us. We are not alone. Thanks be to God.

OFFERING We honour all the ways we give as we dedicate our offering.
PRAYER OF DEDICATION OF GIFTS AND SELF In thanksgiving for the fruitful abundance of God’s creation, let us give back    a portion of what we have received.
Gracious God, Holy Trinity, we offer these gifts and ourselves    as instruments of your ever-new creation. Amen.

OFFERTORY
A single stone placed in the offering plate honours all our gifts.

SCRIPTURE: Matthew 28:16-20 16 Now the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain to which Jesus had directed them. 17 When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. 18 And Jesus came and said to them, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age."
