PRELUDE  Little Prelude in F Major    -   J.S. Bach

GREETING  2 Cor 13:14
The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all. And also with you.

WELCOME       Rev. Thérèse is on study leave this week, so the service is shorter, and there is a brief Chancel Drama in place of the sermon.

CALL TO WORSHIP  We gather in the name of Jesus Christ, across time and space. And even when we gather this way, Christ is in our midst. Come, let us worship.

HYMN  VU 395 come In, Come In and Sit Down
Refrain Come in, come in and sit down, you are a part of the family, We are lost and we are found, and we are a part of the family.
1. You know the reason why you came, yet no reason can explain; so share in the laughter and cry in the pain, for we are a part of the family.
Refrain Come in, come in and sit down, you are a part of the family, We are lost and we are found, and we are a part of the family.
2. God is with us in this place, like a mother's warm embrace. We're all forgiven by God's grace, for we are a part of the family.
Refrain Come in, come in and sit down, you are a part of the family, We are lost and we are found, and we are a part of the family.
3. There's life to be shared in the bread and the wine; we are the branches, Christ is the vine. This is God's temple, it's not yours or mine, but we are a part of the family.
Refrain Come in, come in and sit down, you are a part of the family, We are lost and we are found, and we are a part of the family.
4. There's rest for the weary and health for us all; there's a yoke that is easy, and a burden that's small. So come in and worship and answer the call, for we are a part of the family.
Refrain Come in, come in and sit down, you are a part of the family, We are lost and we are found, and we are a part of the family.

PRAYER FOR ILLUMINATION
Creator, we pray, as we hear and ponder your word, bless us with your wisdom and grace     that we may join your Spirit’s dance,         and be moved to live in the way of your Christ.

SCRIPTURE: Matthew 10:40-42 The Message (MSG) (Jesus is speaking)
“We are intimately linked in this harvest work. Anyone who accepts what you do, accepts me, the One who sent you. Anyone who accepts what I do accepts my Father, who sent me. Accepting a messenger of God is as good as being God’s messenger. Accepting someone’s help  is as good as giving someone help. This is a large work I’ve called you into, but don’t be overwhelmed by it. It’s best to start small. Give a cool cup of water to someone who is thirsty, for instance. The smallest act of giving or receiving makes you a true apprentice. You won’t lose out on a thing.”

RESPONSE:
The word of God for the people of God. Thanks be to God.

CHANCEL DRAMA “Share and Share Alike”

HYMN   MV 176 Three Things I Promise
1. Three things I promise, Holy God, in age and youth, in life and death: to bless your Name, and cling to Christ, and listen for the Spirit's breath.
2. Your love unfolded time and space, and life, and all that life became, and so, with thankful heart and voice, through good and ill, I bless your Name.
3. I follow, serve, and cling to Christ amid our culture's tides and trends, for here your Name is most revealed: Majestic Love, and Best of Friends.
4. Enlivened as the Spirit moves to cleanse, awaken, and renew, I pray that justice, peace, and truth, may seed and grow in all I do.
5. If I should live when vigour fades, and family and friends are gone, three acts of loving faith remain when days are slow, and work is done.
6. Revive and guide me, Living God, as day by day, until my death, I bless your Name, and cling to Christ, and listen for the Spirit's breath.

PROFESSION OF FAITH A New Creed
We are not alone, we live in God’s world.   We believe in God: who has created and is creating, who has come in Jesus, the Word made flesh, to reconcile and make new, who works in us and others by the Spirit.   We trust in God. We are called to be the Church: to celebrate God’s presence, to live with respect in Creation, to love and serve others, to seek justice and resist evil, to proclaim Jesus,    crucified and risen,    our judge and our hope. In life, in death, in life beyond death, God is with us. We are not alone. Thanks be to God.

PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE   You may wish to share your prayers on the Chat Box.

ANNOUNCEMENTS
Coffee Hour- we meet by Zoom immediately after the service this morning. The Zoom link was sent out in the e-blast.

HYMN   VU 652 Be Still, My Soul
1. Be still, my soul, for God is on your side; bear patiently the cross of grief or pain. Trust in your God, your saviour and your guide, who through all changes faithful will remain. Be still, my soul, your best, your heavenly friend through stormy ways leads to a peaceful end.
2. Be still, my soul, your God will undertake to guide the future surely as the past. Your hope, your confidence let nothing shake, all now mysterious shall be bright at last. Be still, my soul, life's tempests still obey the voice that once the waves' wild fury stayed.
3. Be still, my soul, the hour is hastening on when we shall be forever in God's peace; when disappointment, grief and fear are gone, love's joys restored, our strivings all shall cease. Be still, my soul, when change and tears are past, all safe and blessed we shall meet at last.

BLESSING      God’s steadfast love is etched into our souls. May we carry it with us always. Whether welcoming the stranger, whether risking all we have, whether facing the cross, whether wrestling with God’s call, whether freeing ourselves from our past, God is our constant companion for this journey. Amen!
