GREETING (2 Cor 13:14)
The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all. And also with you.

Scripture Passage included in today’s themes, but not read today: 1 Samuel 3:1-10 The boy Samuel hears his name being called. It turns out to be God calling, and he answers as his mentor Eli advises him to answer: “Speak, Lord, for your servant is listening.”

SUNG VERSE VU 82 A Light is Gleaming (refrain only)
A light is gleaming, spreading its arms throughout the night, living in the light. Come share its gladness, God’s radiant love is burning bright, living in the light.

“In the brightness God has given,” we worship.

In the daylight, God calls us. Here I am, for you called me. God calls to each of us by name. Here I am, for you called me.

Creating God, how deeply you know us. In the mystery of your love, you see who we are and who we might become. Our bodies are your creation; they are wonderfully made. Our minds reflect your handiwork. Our spirits are a gift from you. You call us by name and invite us to follow. Lead us now into the depths of your love. Amen.

HYMN   VU 509 I, The Lord of Sea and Sky
I, the Lord of sea and sky, I have heard my people cry. All who dwell in deepest sin my hand will save. I who made the stars of night, I will make their darkness bright. Who will bear my light to them? Whom shall I send?
Refrain:    Here I am, Lord. Is it I, Lord? I have heard you calling in the night. I will go, Lord, if you lead me. I will hold your people in my heart.
I, the Lord of snow and rain, I have borne my people's pain,
I have wept for love of them; they turn away. I will break their hearts of stone, give them hearts for love alone. I will speak my word to them. Whom shall I send?
Refrain:    Here I am, Lord. Is it I, Lord? I have heard you calling in the night. I will go, Lord, if you lead me. I will hold your people in my heart.
I, the Lord of wind and flame, I will tend the poor and lame, I will set a feast for them; my hand will save. Finest bread I will provide till their hearts be satisfied. I will give my life to them. Whom shall I send?
Refrain:    Here, I am, Lord. Is it I, Lord? I have heard you calling in the night. I will go, Lord, if you lead me. I will hold your people in my heart.

PRAYER FOR ILLUMINATION
As we prepare to listen for what the Bible is saying to us, let us pray: We are here, O God, waiting to hear your word. Help us recognize your voice as we listen for your guidance. Search our hearts and open them to your call. We are ready for your word of love. Amen.

HYMN   VU 266 Amazing Grace
Amazing grace, how sweet the sound that saved a wretch like me! I once was lost, but now am found, was blind, but now I see.   ‘Twas grace that taught my heart to fear, and grace my fears relieved; how precious did that grace appear the hour I first believed.   Through many dangers, toils, and snares, I have already come; ‘tis grace that brought me safe thus far, and grace will lead me home.   The Lord has promised good to me, this word my hope secures; God will my shield and portion be as long as life endures.   When we’ve been there ten thousand years, bright shining as the sun, we’ve no less days to sing God’s praise than when we’d first begun.   We Join God in the World

We are not alone, we live in God’s world.   We believe in God: who has created and is creating, who has come in Jesus, the Word made flesh, to reconcile and make new, who works in us and others by the Spirit.   We trust in God. We are called to be the Church: to celebrate God’s presence, to live with respect in Creation, to love and serve others, to seek justice and resist evil, to proclaim Jesus,    crucified and risen,    our judge and our hope. In life, in death, in life beyond death, God is with us. We are not alone. Thanks be to God.

Meditation on Scripture: Psalm 139:1-6, 13-18 (NRSV)
O LORD, you have searched me and known me. You know when I sit down and when I rise up; you discern my thoughts from far away. You search out my path and my lying down, and are acquainted with all my ways. Even before a word is on my tongue, O LORD, you know it completely. You hem me in, behind and before, and lay your hand upon me. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is so high that I cannot attain it.
For it was you who formed my inward parts; you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; that I know very well.  My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth. Your eyes beheld my unformed substance. In your book were written all the days that were formed for me, when none of them as yet existed.
pause for silent meditation
How weighty to me are your thoughts, O God! How vast is the sum of them! I try to count them -- they are more than the sand; I come to the end -- I am still with you.

THE LORD’S PRAYER (Spoken, traditional words, VU 921)
As a child turns to a loving caregiver who watches over them, we turn in prayer to you, O God, who are our heavenly parent, our mother, Our Father, who art in Heaven…

Each one of us is wonderfully made, the creation of God’s love. As you greet one another, marvel at God’s wondrous works.

The Peace of Christ be with you.  And also with you.
We share the peace by typing in the chat box.

ANNOUNCEMENTS Join us by Zoom  following this service for: Birthday Sunday and Coffee Hour- We Go Out to Share God’s Love!

HYMN  MV 161 I Have Called You by Your Name 1. I have called you by your name, you are mine; I have gifted you and ask you now to shine. I will not abandon you; all my promises are true. You are gifted, called, and chosen; you are mine.   2. I will help you learn my name as you go; read it written in my people, help them grow. Pour the water in my name, speak the word your soul can claim, offer Jesus' body given long ago.   3. I know you will need my touch as you go; feel it pulsing in creation's ebb and flow. Like the woman reaching out, choosing faith in spite of doubt, hold the hem of Jesus' robe, then let it go. 4. I have given you a name, it is mine; I have given you my Spirit as a sign. With my wonder in your soul, make my wounded children whole; go and tell my precious people they are mine.

SENDING God who knows us better than we know ourselves, calls us to follow. We go in Jesus’ name to share the good news of God’s love. Go in peace, knowing that God loves you. We follow the call of Love and go with God’s abundant blessing.
